I was wondering if there is a way to get a universe of all the stock symbols in recent history. The closest I've came is the 2007-2011 historical learn dataset but that does not contain recent symbols.

Complete, recent data for all stocks is available with a paid license.
I just want to access the IBKR short shares dataset. It seems like the dataset is free, but with the limitation on the universe symbols, I can only access the free up-to-date IBKR short shares data for the 10 symbols included in the free version or the symbols from 2007-2011 available in the learn datasets? It seems like a rather arbitrary limitation to give free up-to-date data for just 10 random symbols or symbols from 15 years ago.
This seems like a really cool platform but I'm already paying for an expensive polygon.io subscription and can't afford to tack on another subscription when all I want right now from this platform is a single dataset that is supposed to be free.
